Abi flying high with new Traineeship After trying out three different courses at college, Abigail realised that college was not the route for her. With help from college advisers, Abigail was referred to Inspira, the leading career management and personal development organisation in Cumbria. Abi was unsure and confused about her next steps. To help, the Inspira adviser completed an initial assessment with her to look at her skills, qualifications, and any barriers she was facing to achieve her dream career. From the initial assessment, Abu then enrolled on Inspira's pre-employment programme, which involved also achieving a Level 2 in Health and Safety. While on the programme, Abi felt she gained confidence from speaking up in workshops and through creating new friendship groups. She also learnt how to create a CV and techniques to improve her employability skills. Abi's dream is to work in music as she enjoys writing songs and performing. However, she identified current Maths and English qualifications as a barrier. With Abi's dream in mind, the Inspira Adviser told Abi about the vacancies at Carlisle United Football Club for Traineeships. The Traineeships included gaining Maths and English qualifications and a two-day placement of their choice. Abi felt this was an ideal choice, so she applied, landed an interview, and was accepted onto the course. Abi's long term aim is to get a job or apprenticeship, but for now, feels Inspira's pre-employment programme was excellent. "It's been the most fun I've had in years. I have increased my confidence. and now feel happy to hand my CV's to employers, and confident in an interview process".
