“I thoroughly enjoyed it and it is one of the best experiences I have had so far," says Cameron an NCS Grad from 2017.

Social action and volunteering is a key part of NCS, the skills learnt are also invaluable for future life and career.

After graduating from NCS, Cameron decided to join the local NCS youth board based in Lancaster. Part of that decision by Cameron was a desire to help his local community and to inspire other young people to take up the challenge of NCS and complete the programme.

Cameron has helped at every NCS event since, including Meet the Team events, Keep Warm events and Parent events He sharing his experiences with new sign-ups and being a true advocate for the programme. He has also taken part in social action events and has his own project.

“Embracing the opportunities given to me and taking part in further charity events, has helped me to increase my confidence and my knowledge of what it takes to plan one of these events. As a result of this, I have now recently taken on my own charity project in aid of Alzheimer’s society. Going forward in the future I will be taking part in more charity projects as it is something, I am keen to do, and it is now something I know that I am capable of due to the help from NCS.”

NCS has helped Cameron to develop his personal skills such as being able to communicate with a range of people in more of a professional capacity, which in turn helps him to develop important employability skills for the future.
