Jay came to Inspira in early 2019 for career advice after he was struggling to find employment. Jay had been out of work for 18 months and attended many job interviews but was never successful, which led onto developing some mental health issues and a big lack of self confidence.

When Jay was referred by his work coach at his local jobcentre he specifically asked for help to improve his CV and help with interview questions  as he hoped this would improve his chance of getting further interviews. Jay had his first appointment with the National Careers Service in February 2019, not only did he get help with his CV, but he was also was encouraged to attend a group workshop where he could interact with other customers in a similar situation and get help to prepare for interviews.

In the workshop Jay was provided with information about the top ten interview questions employers ask as well as help to answer competency-based questions. Jay was also encouraged to prepare for and participate in mock interviews. After the final mock-interview practice session, Jay felt he would be able to provide stronger answers and answer questions more confidently in future interviews.

Following a successful application for a Business Admin role, Jay was offered a job at a business in his town.

Jay is now thriving in his job and has been back in touch to tell us his mental health is a lot better. He told us that if he had not attended the interview skills workshop he doesn't think he would have been confident enough in his interview to secure his new job.

Jay said, "I definitely recommend the National Careers Service to anyone who is struggling to find work, as the support I was given was a massive help in getting me where I am today."
