Jessica accessed the National Careers Service in July 2020 looking for support with interview skills and to develop her CV.

Jessica had previous experience in administration roles and through discussion the Inspira adviser, Anna, identified that she had the following transferrable skills; excellent communication, multitasking, complaint handling, ability to follow instruction, attention to details and good IT skills.

Jessica had also completed a Level 3 Diploma in Business Administration and Customer Service and she wanted to ensure she was well prepared to apply for vacancies and interviews.

Anna introduced Jessica to the National Careers Service website and they looked at the job profiles for Admin Assistant and Customer Service Assistant as both of these profiles were relevant to her previous experience. Together they discussed how to use the profiles to identify transferrable skills and tailor Jessica's CV to reflect and highlight her skills and abilities. They identified vacancies local to Jessica and discussed how to use the job specifications/descriptions in her applications.

Jessica wanted support with interview skills, so Anna showed her the help to get a job section on the National Careers Service website and they discussed how to prepare for an interview as well as identifying common questions. They used a specific job that Jessica had applied for, Hotel Receptionist, and used this as an example to prepare interview questions and arranged a mock interview for a later date.

In September, Jessica was offered an interview for the job specification Anna and Jessica had prepared for. Quickly arranging a mock interview, Anna helped Jessica prepare, which included asking her to research the company and highlight how her skills and abilities matched the job specification.

The mock interview went really well and Jessica came across really confident with excellent communication, knowledge and understanding of the role. She was offered the position of Hotel Receptionist. Well done Jessica.
