Moor Park High School in Preston sign up for this Summer's NCS programme On Tuesday 7th January the Lancashire NCS Team visited Moor Park High School to let all the Year 11s know about the National Citizen Service (NCS) and how they could get involved in this fantastic opportunity. This is the first academic year that Inspira has engaged with Moor Park, as the relationship was previously held by a different NCS provider. NCS in Moor Park has got off to a great start with Year 11 Learning Mentor Mrs. Fletcher saying “It was the best launch we’ve ever had”. The momentum has been building since that initial assembly. 11 students from Moor Park have already signed up to the programme; with many of them excited to get out of Preston and have a well-deserved break after the stress of their GCSE exams. The NCS team has also been to Moor Park High School for a lunchtime drop-in session where lots of young people came to chat about NCS, get their questions answered and book on to the same programme date as their friends. Mrs Fletcher was pleased to see the students interacting with staff and is keen to have NCS thrive in Moor Park this year. She is excited to see lots of her students gain additional experiences, skills, and friends on the program this summer, having seen first-hand the difference it has made to previous students. The NCS team also gave a specialized talk to the Duke of Edinburgh students before Christmas, to give them a chance to get all the benefits of NCS and the ability to tick off their residential for Gold DofE. Mrs. Fletcher was so impressed with how this session went, that she has requested the team come to school and have more specialized sessions with specific groups of students. In the coming months, the NCS Team will be back in Moor Park for more drop-ins and sessions with the Year 11s, ready for the summer where they turn “No You Can’t” into “No We Can”. It’s not too late to get signed up!
