Part of the Well North initiative, funded by Public Health England, Copeland Borough Council approached Inspira in November 2019 to support their Equipped for the Future Programme for a period of twelve months.

The pilot scheme involving ten students from Whitehaven Academy who were living (or had previously lived) in the Mirehouse Valley area of West Cumbria. The programme's aim was to provide opportunities for the young people to engage with local employers such as Cavendish Nuclear, Sellafield, Jacobs and Assystem, during a week of work experience, complete a community project and have access to an employer mentor.

The work experience week took place in November, then the mentees were paired with employer mentors who met in school.

Mentors and mentees working on a variety of issues such as homework and revision, difficulties in class, behaviour in school, post 16 options, preparing a CV, identifying further work experience options and how to support the groups' community project.
