Name: Ben Nicholson

Age: 21

Employer: Inspira. I’m located in the Workington office.

Job Title: Business Administration Apprentice

Why did you choose to do an Apprenticeship?

I chose to do an Apprenticeship because I didn’t want to go to University, and I am able to earn my own money whilst I am working towards a qualification.

What are you getting out of your Apprenticeship?

I am working towards a Level 3 Business Administration qualification. As well as this I am gaining an understanding of what the company does through supporting different contracts. I am developing some new skills as well as enhancing the ones I already had. I have accompanied Inspira staff into schools and colleges, supported the annual Careers Convention and have got involved in some group work with young people. I didn’t know that my role would be so varied.

What do you like most about the job?

I like the general environment of the office, the people I work with and the fact that the job has a variety of challenges.

What do you like least?

There’s nothing that I really dislike about the job.

Why did you want to do this job?

I like working with people and I felt that an administrative role would offer me a good broad range of experiences to develop my career.

What jobs have you done previously?

I have previously worked in Subway as a Sandwich Artist and then I progressed on to a Team Leader. Prior to this I worked at a local café serving customers.

Any advice for anyone wanting to get an apprenticeship?

I would just advise them to try and get some work experience in the relevant work areas that you are applying or looking for. This will help you when you are called for an interview.
