Small steps lead to college course in Health and Social Care

Tina was introduced to the National Careers Service (NCS) through her Recovery Worker at Inspire North and Central Lancashire.

With goals of working in social care and support work, Tina knew that she needed some help to get herself ready for work and prepared for interviews as her self-esteem and confidence were low.

After talking through her career goals with an Adviser from Inspira, the pair identified small steps Tina could take to achieve her career goal.

The impact of COVID 19 meant that Tina needed to look at online options, and with the Adviser's help enrolled onto online courses which were related to her recovery and which would help her understand the issues that she was going through, and help her to prepare mentally for a college course.

Tina enrolled on an online course in NCFE CACHE Level 2 in Awareness of Mental Health Problems and Understanding Children and Young People’s Mental Health. Following that, Tina enrolled at Preston College on a Level 2 in Health and Social Care.

Tina said “If I did not get the help from NCS and Inspira, I would still be at home feeling sorry for myself.”
