I work across the CIAG contract in Walney School, John Ruskin and Furness College, and The National Careers Service.

What benefits do you think clients get from the help you give?

Ability to explore potential long term plans. Information, advice and guidance to help them to question ideas and to make an informed decision.

Any advice for people wanting to get into your profession?

To research the role and to decide whether they might like to make a difference in people’s lives. There are different routes into becoming a qualified Careers Adviser, and I chose to follow the traditional path of studying towards a Postgraduate Diploma in Careers Guidance at University which is what I enjoyed and would recommend to people thinking of becoming a Careers Adviser.
