My name is Sarah and I work as a Skills and Development Adviser based in West Cumbria. I have worked for Inspira for almost 12 years and have undertaken a variety of different roles.
Before starting to work for Inspira I went to University in Leeds where I gained a degree in English and History. I then spent several years moving around the country with my husband who was in the British Army. I believe that this time spent gaining skills in different workplaces has helped me to better understand the needs of our clients. I developed a positive mindset in relation to change and the ability to adapt to new people and places.
I really enjoy my job as it offers the chance to continually develop my skills. When I joined the company in 2008 I worked with adult customers providing information and advice through the National Careers Service. Through continuous professional development I have gained several qualifications, the most recent being a Level 6 in Career Advice and Guidance. My role now sees me working with young people in schools and colleges.
I have also had the privilege of working as a National Citizen Service Area Coordinator. This fantastic programme has allowed me to see the young people taking part develop new friendships, grow in confidence and learn new things about themselves. My time on NCS has definitely changed me as much as it changed them!
