The Key is a free programme designed in partnership with local employers to help people get the life and career they want. Every participant of The Key programme receives advice and guidance tailored specifically to them and practical support to apply for real job vacancies. 

What does it involve?

The programme begins with a one to one session, where you’ll explore your work history, assess your strengths and skills, discuss your interests and career aspirations, identify your development needs and come up with your individual learning plan.

You’ll then take part in an innovative personal development course to help transform your confidence and develop the skills employers want, like planning, communication and leadership.

During your career coaching sessions, we’ll work together on your CV, applications, job search techniques and social media skills. As well as help to prepare for interviews, you’ll also get practical experience and feedback from real employers.

Some of these sessions will take place one to one but you’ll also have the opportunity to attend useful group workshops and certificated short courses too.

We’ll also work with you to address any practical circumstances that may be restricting your ability to find and enter work; whether that’s help to overcome transport issues, access to a computer, or help to access funding for learning or even clothes for interviews or work.

Will it cost me anything?

You do not have to pay for any part of this programme or external short courses.

All coaching sessions and courses will be held in appropriate, convenient venues with public transport links. Essential travel costs (the cheapest realistic option) will be refunded if you provide proof e.g. bus tickets.
