Improving the skills of unemployed adults to compete effectively in the labour market
The Key Programme is run Cumbria, and offers skills support to people who are unemployed, underemployed and inactive adults.
Designed to match job seekers with live local job opportunities, the programme aims to update and improve the skills of participants so that they can compete effectively in the labour market. The programmes also make provision to support those with multiple and complex barriers to work, addressing any underlying issues and boosting their employability.
Each programme begins with a one to one session with an Inspira Adviser to discuss the client's work goals and explore their current situation and skill set. The Adviser then creates an individual Action Plan that sets out the steps the client needs to complete in order to achieve their goals.
Clients are contacted on a regular basis to support completion of their Action Plan and progression is ensured through group work, coaching and a series of experiential career and personal development workshops covering topics such as developing personal confidence, recognising local labour market opportunities, coping with stress, developing teamwork, effective communication and CV building.
Alongside vocational study units in a range of sectors including: customer service, administration, warehousing and digital technology; participants can work towards recognised accreditation and certificates in English, Maths and ICT.
