Confidence building for interviews a game changer for Evie

Evie Mellor is 18 and from Morecambe. She was referred to The National Careers Service by her Work Coach at the Morecambe Jobcentre Plus.

It was Evie's second session with the National Careers Service, her first appointment had been to access some help with her CV.

For Evie, being invited for a job interview as a care assistant was unnerving.

"I needed help getting into work," said Evie. "I was nervous about interviews and not doing well at them."

Help was at hand through Jane Wan, a National Career Service adviser who works for Inspira.

"Jane looked at the job advert with me and we worked out the questions that they might ask me at the interview," said Evie. Jane encouraged me to make notes about the answers that I could use for each question."

Evie had a successful interview - "I am so excited about this. Seeing Jane definitely helped me to feel that I could do well at interview and actually do the job."

Evie’s family are excited too, ’’My sister is buzzing about it as much as me!’

Evie aims to take it one step at a time, live in the moment and not get anxious about the future. However she strongly encourages others to contact The National Careers Service, "it will boost your confidence and make you understand how to do well at interviews," says Evie.
