Inspira helps David create a competency-based CV

Though David had been out of work for several years, his previous roles included considerable responsibilities, but these skills and attributes didn't shine through on his CV.

From working in the family business to undertaking voluntary work, David possessed skills and knowledge, but on paper, he lacked training, work experience and qualifications.

In a careers interview with an Inspira Adviser, David was advised on how to set out an action plan to help him land a new job.

Starting with his CV, David was asked to concentrate on his competencies and skills rather than a chronological list of work experience. Focusing on David's transferable skills, the Adviser explained that they could be used to evidence specific job criteria.

Next, David was encouraged to look at training courses which would provide a steppingstone to further training, qualifications and experience.

With an action plan in place and a CV to use and build on, David is in a more positive place and continues to job search with enthusiasm.
