Stevie Baty

Hey, my name is Stevie and I am one of the amazing NCS Coordinators based in North Cumbria. I've worked for Inspira for four years and this is my fourth role here now, too. Never stand still!

Working on the National Citizen Service programme is pretty full-on but it's brilliant to be part of such a life-changing scheme. When I'm not out recruiting young people to take part, I'm usually planning and organising all the fantastic activities that take place before, during and after NCS. Either that or I'm chatting to the young people to make sure they've got all the essential information they need to take part.

This job fulfils all my ambitions as I absolutely love youth work. I get to work with some incredible young people and help them reach their potential. It's really great to see how going on NCS increases their confidence and self esteem, as well as developing their social and employability skills.

My inspirational story

A turning point in my working life was when I took a group of young people with additional needs on an outdoor activity-based residential programme. This was my first experience of working with people who had any form of disability. Being able to witness each individual go on their own journey and see their confidence increase was so rewarding. I'm so privileged to get to work with so many different people from different backgrounds. It's a great feeling to know you are making a positive difference to people's lives.
